The highlight of this izakaya-style dining space are the robata-yaki and irori charcoal grill open kitchen. Robata means “hearthside” or “fireside,” while yaki means “grill.” Dining at a robata-yaki grill is a special occasion and is an interactive, informal yet deeply traditional dining experience. Guests sit around an interactive kitchen with counter seating and watch as master chefs skillfully prepare the barbecue. Saba (mackerel), scallops, chicken skewers, shiitake mushrooms, garlic, green peppers and much more are served with a selection of fine sake round off every meal, personally selected by our Japanese chefs.
Rooms with communal seating or semi-private dining rooms that seats up to eight are available, but go early for a seat at the counter around the robata-yaki – definitely the best seat in the house. Iza features 42 varieties of sake and shochu and numerous beers on tap to complement the menu.
